A sweet experience in hair removal - Examiner Posted: 16 Apr 2010 01:32 PM PDT For many of us hair removal is painful and leaves our skin red and irritated. ALWAYS on the lookout for people, products and services that will increase health and happiness, I'm sure you will agree that this popular, economical, safe, and convenient method of hair removal is way up on the list. Using natural ingredients, sugaring hair removal is generally much gentler and safer to the skin. Sugaring is an all-natural, chemical free alternative to waxing that has proven to be much gentler, less painful and equally effective. This process is not new, dating all the way back to ancient civilizations in Egypt and Greece. A combination of sugar, lemon juice, water and glycerin is applied to the skin and removed in a similar manner as wax and can be used anywhere that you can shave or wax. The sugar mix creates a layer that protects the delicate skin and prevents the tiny tears that can lead to infection. The hair is extracted in the natural direction of growth, resulting in less irritation, pain, and breakage. Each treatment weakens the hair root making it easier to remove the hair and by your third sugaring treatment, you should find it virtually pain free. Lori Yeats owner of Soteria Skin tells us that "Sugaring not only removes the unwanted hair, it is also an excellent exfoliate, removing dead skin cells, and leaving the skin smooth and silky, which makes moisturizing more effective. This holistic procedure is less painful than other forms of hair removal and is even edible!" What are the differences between sugaring and waxing? *Sugaring paste is used at room temperature or slightly warmed. *Sugaring paste is easily cleaned up with water. Buy one sugaring service and get your brow for free. Soteria Skin 713-665-8400 Five Filters featured article: Chilcot Inquiry. Available tools: PDF Newspaper, Full Text RSS, Term Extraction. |
Obamas To Vacation In North Carolina - WIBW Posted: 16 Apr 2010 03:41 PM PDT Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama is taking his family on a mini-vacation to Asheville, North Carolina, next weekend, the White House confirmed in a statement. Obama had been planning to take his wife and two daughters on an official trip to Indonesia and Australia late last month that coincided with spring break for Sasha and Malia. But the trip was scrapped because the health care debate kept the President pinned down in Washington, so First Lady Michelle Obama took the girls to New York for a few days instead. The entire family has not had a vacation together since the holidays in Hawaii. Obama, who will vacation in Western North Carolina from Friday until Sunday, has sweet memories of the state dating back to the 2008 campaign. The Asheville Citizen-Times reported Friday that Obama has not been in Asheville - a picturesque city nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains - since October 2008, when he prepped for a presidential debate with Sen. John McCain, R-Arizona, and spoke to a crowd of about 28,000 at a huge rally less than a month before the election. Obama ended up carrying North Carolina in the general election, the first Democrat to do so since Jimmy Carter in 1976. Five Filters featured article: Chilcot Inquiry. 'Romantically Challenged' plays the singles game - El Diário La Estrella Posted: 16 Apr 2010 02:58 PM PDT It's hard to believe that a beautiful, sweet, successful woman like Alyssa Milano could know what it feels like to be "romantically challenged." But she swears she does. "Before I met my husband, I went through 15 years of bad dating," Milano says. "I hated dating. It was torture, the whole process, and I was never good at it. Just one bad date after another." The former Who's the Boss?/Charmed star got married last August. Her husband is a Hollywood agent, but not hers. Milano's previous marriage, in 1999, lasted less than a year. "Thank goodness my husband and I were best friends for two years before we ever dated," she says. "If we had started with dating, as bad as I am at it, I'm sure that we wouldn't be together now." The point she's making is that, although happy now, she knows what it's like to be unlucky in love, just like the character she plays in Romantically Challenged, an ABC sitcom premiering tonight. Milano plays Rebecca Thomas, recently divorced after 15 years of marriage. Bill Clinton was in office the last time Rebecca went on a date. Now that she's single again, she's lost at sea. "I don't know anyone who hasn't been romantically challenged at some point in their life," says Milano, 37. "I think everyone can relate. Our show takes the ridiculousness of dating, puts it under a microscope and finds the humor in it. "I wish I could have found the humor in dating when I was single and suffering out there." We chatted with Milano last week about romantic challenges. You first experienced sitcom stardom at age 11 on Who's the Boss? What brings you back to a sitcom? I love the multicamera, traditional sitcom format. It really is the purest form of TV comedy. The camera is there just to capture the performance. I love the simplicity of that. Also, I think sitcoms are on the verge of making a big comeback. Sitcoms fell out of favor for a while, but our country has been struggling and I think people want to laugh again. Why were you so bad at dating when you were single? I had a habit of obsessing about it. You meet someone, you exchange numbers, you wait for them to call. Then there's the whole, 'Do you call them? Do they call you?' thing. By the time I'd finally make the date, I was a wreck. Also, I was the sort of person who would spend hours in my closet trying to figure out what was appropriate to wear. Then you get on the date, and you realize you're not representing yourself in an honest, sincere way. I basically would think too much and try too hard. Maybe dating would be easier if we took relationship pointers from our pets: Two dogs walk up to one another, sniff each other and instantly know whether they're meant to be. What do you think of that? It's worth a try. For some people, that technique would be an improvement. I know that Rebecca is so clueless at dating, if someone said to her that this is how you date, that you go up to a guy and sniff his butt, she would say, 'Oh, OK, sniff his butt. Got it. And what do I do after that?'
What's the worst date you ever had? One of my dates with my husband comes to mind. We went on our first vacation together, and we went out on a boat. He got so seasick that he proceeded to scream-vomit for the next hour, which kind of ruins the magic of the date. But I loved him anyway. That's when I knew I could spend the rest of my life with this man. When you see someone in that vulnerable a position and you still love them and you aren't completely turned off, you're in a pretty good place. So I guess that actually was one of my best dates.
